Fishing

There is no coincidence that Kristiansund was chosen as the ideal location for clipfish production; excellent fishing grounds nearby and a good climate. Here are some great fishing stories from Arnesenbrygga.

Nature

The local scenery is stunning and provides great hiking and photo opportunities. Brutal in bad weather, inviting on a warm summers day. If it's too windy for fishing, bring your camera for a hike.

History

Arnesenbrygga was primarily used for production of clipfish and wooden barrels prior to WWII. Barrel production ended in the late 30'es but clipfish production continued until the late fifties. During the German occupation 1940-45, Arnesenbrygga was used for storage and housed prisoners of war used as forced labour.

During the peak of production under Astrup & Co, Arnesenbrygga was the 3rd largest fish processing facility in the region.
